This is another elegant looking board from Razer.

This latest entry makes use of Cherry MX Blue mechanical key switches for low actuating force and high-speed typing and gaming performance.

The new Blackwidow Ultimate 2013 mechanical gaming keyboard is Razer’s newest flagship keyboard. Resting peacefully in the belly of its supposed lover, the 8-legged creature’s demise, by definition, has now elevated the ravenous female to new prominence in the animal kingdom, thus a new Blackwidow is born. If you are looking for something a bit more solid to take with you, the Deathstalker is probably better built and a bit more portable.A new arachnid has loving relieved its spouse of the burdens of life.

If you plan on just docking your notebook with the keyboard, I'd say the Anansi might be better for playing games on. Plus the fact that the chicklet layout is much easier to keep clean. Other than that it's a great keyboard and works great for non-gaming and work. This wouldn't be as much of a problem if you are talking about the ultimate version instead of the essential. Also not fond of the fact that it doesn't have any dedicated macro keys. The chicklet keys make it hard to keep position on the board. It's a nice keyboard, but gaming on it isn't too great. I recently replaced my old Logitech G15 with a used Deathstalker I got cheap. In a keyboard without anti-ghosting technology If you press say E and F, the keyboard can't tell the difference from the signal from pressing E,F,D or E,F,R or E,R,D,F. This has to do with the way the keyboard detects how a key is pressed. On some keyboards, pressing more than two keys may not be recognized. Ghosting is when the computer can't recognize the multiple keys pressed.
